On the great debate about whether pressure is inherently aversive:
Dancing is about giving and receiving of information, it’s not pressure and release….it’s information on what to do next.
We can set up training with our animals so that it becomes a dance. The pressure and release we use is information that helps to guide them through the dance.
Equally important….during the dance the information we receive from them needs to guide us to the next steps.
If we want a relationship built on mutual trust and respect then the information flow is equal both ways.
